Your gift doubles in impact to provide schools in the Matete community in Kenya with access to better education through technology.
Classroom technology brings school subjects to life and allows kids to learn at their own pace. It's an effective way to improve education in a community where basic needs have already been met.
We're partnering with the Kenya Ministry of Education, Microsoft, Intel, the UK development agency British Council, and Greenbridge Computing to provide children with:
- Digital learning centers that serve as a hub for other schools in the area
- Computers and Internet access
- Extensive teacher training, resulting in improved learning outcomes and increased student engagement
- Safe learning environments with basics like power and furniture
- Improved literacy and numeracy rates
- Key skills that will help them succeed in work and life, such as creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving
In a country where half the people live under the national poverty line, and about a third of young men and women are illiterate, the need is urgent. Without a shift in the education environment, children growing up in these areas will be at a huge disadvantage for jobs, adding to already high unemployment rates.
The Matete community has been selected because it is in its final phase of development. Children's basic needs have been addressed, and now education is key to helping families tackle the issues that contribute to poverty. Plans are underway to expand this program across more communities in Africa.
Thank you for partnering with us to give children a chance to follow their dreams. This is life-changing. As children learn, they'll aspire to change the world and their place in it. Imagine the possibilities!
At World Vision, stewardship is an integral part of everything we do. In rare cases where donations exceed what is needed, or where local conditions prevent program implementation, World Vision will redirect funds to similar activities to help children and families in need.
The multiplying effect from grants and donated goods may change throughout the year on identical or similar offers due to variations in the start and end dates of donor grants and our programs.
