More DetailsFor more than 75 years, World Vision has partnered with communities, donors, and governments to help vulnerable children build brighter futures, even in the toughest places.
Our expertise in delivering water, sanitation, and hygiene solutions, our proven track record of helping families move beyond extreme poverty, and our decades of leadership in advancing equality for women and girls uniquely position us to address the barriers that prevent children from reaching their full potential.
Through our programs and advocacy work, we help ensure that:
- Robust child protection laws and policies are in place at national and local levels and are effectively enforced
- Girls and boys have the knowledge and confidence to challenge harmful social practices
- Families and communities are equipped to adopt equitable practices and oppose child marriage
- Children and youth have access to quality education and sustainable livelihood opportunities
Among the many threats facing vulnerable children worldwide, child marriage remains one of the most widespread and devastating.
Every year, 12 million girls are married before they turn 18 — that is 22 girls every minute. The number continues to rise, especially among families living in extreme poverty with few economic opportunities. Inequality, harmful social norms, insecurity, and financial pressure all contribute, as some parents feel forced to marry off their daughters at a young age simply to survive.
That is why World Vision’s Big Dream to End Child Marriage program is partnering with communities in Kenya and Bangladesh to sustainably reduce child marriage and other harmful practices.
The program’s multi-sector approach addresses the root causes driving child marriage, while also engaging faith leaders to recognize and confront injustices affecting women and girls in their communities.
Thank you for considering joining others across the country who are answering the call to be the hands and feet of Jesus through this vital kingdom work.
With your support of our child protection programs, by 2030, we will help end child marriage and harmful practices everywhere we work in Kenya and in parts of Bangladesh and help to protect and empower children and youth in Honduras.
Our Commitment
At World Vision, stewardship is an integral part of everything we do. In rare cases where donations exceed what is needed, or where local conditions prevent program implementation, World Vision will redirect funds to similar activities to help children and families in need.
The multiplying effect from grants and donated goods may change throughout the year on identical or similar offers due to variations in the start and end dates of donor grants and our programs.
