The compounding effects of drought, displacement, decades of conflict, and COVID-19 are creating a massive humanitarian crisis for children and families in Afghanistan. An estimated 18.4 million men, women, and children are in need of life-saving aid.
Food insecurity is on the rise, with more than half of Afghanistan’s population living below the poverty line. A water crisis is also unfolding. Communities are struggling to get enough water for livestock and agriculture, as well as for drinking and hygiene.
Additionally, following the recent conflict and threat of COVID-19, the healthcare system is in near-collapse. COVID-19 is having a particularly dramatic impact on women and girls, further compounding a multitude of daily challenges including protection risks and human rights violations.
World Vision has been equipping and empowering children and families in need in Afghanistan for over 20 years through proven programs in health, nutrition, child protection, clean water and sanitation, livelihoods, and education — and we’re committed to serving long term. Help us deliver essential aid to 1 million vulnerable children and families by donating today.
At World Vision, stewardship is an integral part of everything we do. In rare cases where donations exceed what is needed, or where local conditions prevent program implementation, World Vision will redirect funds to similar activities to help children and families in need.
The multiplying effect from grants and donated goods may change throughout the year on identical or similar offers due to variations in the start and end dates of donor grants and our programs.
