Help Us Bring the Life-Saving Gift of Clean Water to Healthcare Facilities in Zambia
More than 300 thousand women die every year from preventable causes associated with pregnancy and childbirth. In our project areas, half the health clinics don’t have clean water, and 84% don’t even have basic hand washing facilities. Can you imagine delivering a baby without clean water?
Aside from risks to mothers and newborns in the delivery room, improved water access, sanitation, and hygiene in health clinics is paramount to stopping the spread of COVID-19, among other deadly infectious diseases, and could save the lives of 1 million newborns every year.
What World Vision is doing:
- Clean water directly on the premises
- Handwashing stations in all patient areas
- Staff training focused on infection prevention and control
- Community health workers mobilized to educate community members
- Waste management including trash segregation for hazardous and infectious waste
World Vision is a global leader in working with rural healthcare facilities. In 2019, when the World Health Organization and UNICEF issued a global call to action to provide hygiene, water, and sanitation in healthcare facilities, World Vision responded with a commitment larger than any other NGO. We are currently ahead of schedule having reached 672 facilities in the first 18 months of this commitment.
With your help, we will reach 800 rural healthcare facilities benefitting 7.2 million people by 2021.
Your investment of $125,000 will bring clean water, sanitation, and hygiene to a rural health clinic in Zambia. We will provide a report (typically within 12 months) on the water system you made possible —including photos, GPS coordinates, and the number of people served.
Our Commitment
At World Vision, stewardship is an integral part of everything we do. In rare cases where donations exceed what is needed, or where local conditions prevent program implementation, World Vision will redirect funds to similar activities to help children and families in need.
The multiplying effect from grants and donated goods may change throughout the year on identical or similar offers due to variations in the start and end dates of donor grants and our programs.
