On February 6th, two earthquakes of 7.7 and 7.5 magnitudes and multiple aftershocks struck Southern Türkiye and Northern Syria.
According to government and UN sources, more than 55,190 people have died, and 129,490 injured. At least 15 million people and 4 million buildings were affected.
Hours after the earthquakes, World Vision staff in Syria started responding to the impacted population by providing tents, non-food materials, heaters, and fuel; and more to immediately begin lifesaving and life-preserving activities.
World Vision, through the Syria and Türkiye Earthquake Response, is responding in the earthquake affected areas of NW Syria and Türkiye. World Vision is providing clean water and sanitation support, education, health and nutrition assistance, shelter and survival items, cash and voucher assistance, livelihood programs to get people back on their feet, and safe places for vulnerable children to learn and play.
Your gift can make a real difference for vulnerable children and families:
- $500 – Can provide health clinic consultations for 50 people
- $900 – Can provide an emergency shelter for a family of seven people for six months
- $2,600 – Can provide 40 children access to a safe, warm play area with recreational equipment for one month
- $12,000 – Can provide heating for 100 people during the initial months following the earthquake
Our hearts break for the children and families of Turkey and Syria affected by this disaster. Would you join us in supporting these urgent needs with life-saving support in the name of Jesus?
Please pray with us for God to bring comfort and hope to those hurting amid extreme loss, unrest, and uncertainty. Thank you for your heart to love and be the hands and feet of Jesus during this dire time.
At World Vision, stewardship is an integral part of everything we do. In rare cases where donations exceed what is needed, or where local conditions prevent program implementation, World Vision will redirect funds to similar activities to help children and families in need.
The multiplying effect from grants and donated goods may change throughout the year on identical or similar offers due to variations in the start and end dates of donor grants and our programs.
