Pigs are wonderful providers.
One healthy sow can produce two or three litters of piglets every year—with up to a dozen in each litter. Each of those piglets quickly grows to weigh as much as 200 pounds and fetches a hefty price at market. That means school supplies, medicines, and more for a family in need.
For children like Johana, pictured in 2022 at age 9, pigs can open up a whole new future. After her dad abandoned their family, her mom, Nicolasa, received pigs through the Gift Catalog along with training that enabled her to start her own business. With hard work she grew her income to cover the needs of her young daughters, including building a sturdy new home. She’s committed to their futures and helping them succeed — and Johana, who helps her mom feed and care for their growing herd of pigs, dreams of following in her mom’s footsteps as a pig farmer. “I love working with the piggies!” she says. “When I grow up I want to be like my mommy.”
Your gift is a sacred trust. We promise to honor your generosity by using your donation in the most effective way possible. Giving options represent World Vision projects and suggested donation amounts are based on surveys in the countries where we serve. Your donation will be used to provide assistance where it’s needed most within the gift category. For example, when you give an animal gift, a portion of the gift may also help provide water sources, farming assistance, hunger relief, and other related essentials.
The multiplying effect from grants and donated goods may change throughout the year on identical or similar offers due to variations in the start and end dates of donor grants and our programs.
