You can protect children from domestic and community violence in Honduras.
Despite the lush, natural landscapes of Honduras, it is now the third most violent country in the world. What is at the root of this culture of violence and how can it be stopped? One answer lies within the family. Across Latin America, an estimated 80,000 children die each year because of parental abuse, and more than 6 million have suffered severe abuse in their lifetimes. Children don’t feel safe in their homes, nor in their communities. They often join gangs to find a sense of security and belonging, or flee their country entirely in hopes of finding safety and opportunities elsewhere.
The Honduras Child Protection Project addresses the key factors that cause children to be and feel unsafe. All children should live a life free from fear of violence or violence itself.
Your generous gift will help us expand our work to prevent all forms of violence against children, especially the most vulnerable in the following ways:
- Empowering girls and boys to protect themselves and help protect one another with teaching of life skills and creating youth clubs.
- Strengthening families and caregivers to be the first line of protection and care for children. Sample activities include home visits from volunteers to support vulnerable children and families.
- Engaging men in small groups to help husbands and fathers play a significant role in protecting children from violence.
- In addition, our child protection interventions support behavior and conduct in communities that create safe environments that value and protect children, especially the most vulnerable.

At World Vision, stewardship is an integral part of everything we do. In rare cases where donations exceed what is needed, or where local conditions prevent program implementation, World Vision will redirect funds to similar activities to help children and families in need.
The multiplying effect from grants and donated goods may change throughout the year on identical or similar offers due to variations in the start and end dates of donor grants and our programs.
