Every child deserves to read.
World Vision believes that every child is a precious gift from God, and that all girls and boys deserve access to quality education. Yet in 2019, only 1 in 2 children could read at a proficient level. According to the United Nations, “The learning crisis not only threatens an individual’s ability to climb out of poverty, it also jeopardizes the economic future of entire nations as they struggle to compete in a global marketplace with less-than-skilled human resources.”
World Vision equips children to flourish through quality education, immersing students in words while enhancing community structures that foster learning. Our award-winning Unlock Literacy program empowers parents and children to value education and its life-changing potential.
The key strategies of the Unlock Literacy program — equipping teachers, empowering parents, and establishing reading camps — help students walk confidently out of classroom doors and onto the path out of poverty, bringing their whole community with them.
With your help, World Vision plans reach 4.5 million children and youth, including those with disabilities, with access to quality education, skills training, and opportunities by 2030. Thank you for prayerfully considering partnering with us in this life-changing work by making a gift to the Education Fund.
An intelligent mind acquires knowledge, and the ear of the wise seeks knowledge. — Proverbs 18:15 (RSV)
At World Vision, stewardship is an integral part of everything we do. In rare cases where donations exceed what is needed, or where local conditions prevent program implementation, World Vision will redirect funds to similar activities to help children and families in need.
The multiplying effect from grants and donated goods may change throughout the year on identical or similar offers due to variations in the start and end dates of donor grants and our programs.
