Help us bring the life-saving gift of clean water to the people of Honduras.

The global water crisis is one of the biggest public health crises of our day. Every day, more than 1,000 children under 5 die from diseases caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation, and unsafe hygiene practices. The daily walk for water is robbing women and girls of their futures. And growing droughts around the world are leading to malnutrition and death.

Of the nearly 9.6 million people living in Honduras, 1.5 million lack access to clean, accessible water resources — and 1.2 million are from rural areas. Rural families lacking access to safe water have no choice but to consume water from streams or open wells — the same places where people bathe and wash clothes, and animals defecate — leading to diseases.

In Honduras, World Vision works with communities to protect watersheds where there are springs. By protecting and managing these micro-watersheds, we can improve the water flow from the springs and help ensure resilience from changing weather patterns. World Vision then constructs collection tanks and pipelines primarily using gravity to provide water to communities. We can provide water connections inside the home or right outside the door.

As a Christian, faith-based organization, World Vision is uniquely positioned to work with local religious leaders of all faiths as agents of change and advocates for the importance of clean water, improved sanitation, and healthy hygiene behaviors. In fact, 11,820 faith leaders participated in water, sanitation, and hygiene efforts in 2022.

World Vision is the leading nongovernmental provider of clean water in the developing world reaching one new person with clean water every 10 seconds!

World Vision and our partners commit to finish the job and reach everyone, everywhere we work with clean water in Honduras. We will reach 650,000 people by 2027, more than half of the people lacking clean water in the rural areas of the entire country.

“…I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink…” —Matthew 25:35 (NIV)

Our Commitment

At World Vision, stewardship is an integral part of everything we do. In rare cases where donations exceed what is needed, or where local conditions prevent program implementation, World Vision will redirect funds to similar activities to help children and families in need.

The multiplying effect from grants and donated goods may change throughout the year on identical or similar offers due to variations in the start and end dates of donor grants and our programs.
