Equip communities with water, sanitation, and hygiene.
Clean water frees children from deadly water-related diseases. It liberates women and children from a life spent walking for dirty water. When communities have reliable access to clean water, it transforms every aspect of people’s lives. Better health, education, and economic opportunities flow from clean water.
But in many parts of the world, children and women must walk many miles every day to get water that can make them sick — or worse. Every day, more than 800 children under 5 die from diarrhea caused by contaminated water, poor sanitation, and unsafe hygiene practices. Globally, 1 of every 10 people still lack access to clean water — and growing droughts around the world are leading to malnutrition and death.
The good news is World Vision is reaching one new person with clean water every 10 seconds! With help from donors like you, we’re the leading nongovernmental provider of clean water in the developing world. Every child deserves clean water, and we’re passionate about following Jesus’ example in helping meet vulnerable people’s tangible needs.
World Vision’s water work goes beyond drilling wells that provide clean water for drinking, cooking, and watering crops — it also focuses on:
- Building of latrines and handwashing stations for families, schools, and health clinics
- Promotion of healthy sanitation and hygiene behaviors to reduce sickness
- Water-user associations that collect fees to fund spare parts and repairs, so wells continue to provide clean water
You can be part of ending the global water crisis! Give today and equip kids and families with the transformational gift of clean water.
At World Vision, stewardship is an integral part of everything we do. In rare cases where donations exceed what is needed, or where local conditions prevent program implementation, World Vision will redirect funds to similar activities to help children and families in need.
The multiplying effect from grants and donated goods may change throughout the year on identical or similar offers due to variations in the start and end dates of donor grants and our programs.
