The COVID-19 global health crisis continues to wreak havoc for children and families around the world. Some countries are still battling dangerous surges that have overwhelmed under-resourced healthcare systems.

In other regions, harmful secondary effects of the pandemic have put an even bigger strain on already-struggling communities. Tens of millions of children are now at greater risk of hunger, malnutrition, violence, and neglect. Many face the loss of education and family income. And with overburdened health systems, they are more vulnerable to other preventable diseases.

Your gift will help children and families in places now hit hardest by this pandemic and its effects. In areas facing critical shortages, World Vision is bolstering care by delivering emergency medical supplies and supporting healthcare workers with training and personal protective equipment. And to help families keep themselves safe, we’re equipping them with handwashing supplies, hygiene and cleaning kits, and information about healthy behaviors that can prevent the spread of the virus.

Your donation will also help children suffering from the pandemic’s secondary effects — both around the world, and here in the U.S. Children around the world will benefit from life-saving food, child protection programs, educational support, and more. Here at home, we’ll continue distributing emergency food, school supplies, and other essentials to families in need. Healthcare workers and schools will get personal protective equipment including face masks, gloves, and hand sanitizer.

Thanks to generous donors like you, World Vision has been meeting critical needs around the world since the beginning of the pandemic. As part of our first-ever global (and largest ever) response, World Vision staff are working to reach 72 million vulnerable people — including 36 million children — in over 70 countries worldwide, including the U.S.

To meet this goal, we’re working with proven partners, including our networks of over 184,000 local community health workers and 450,000 faith leaders.
Our volunteer community health workers are on the front lines of the COVID-19 response in their communities. They are trained to provide basic health services and to share accurate information about the COVID vaccine with families.

We’re also working in partnership with faith leaders to combat fear, stigma, and misinformation, and to encourage vaccination and healthy, high-impact behaviors like handwashing. Our experience training these leaders in over 50 countries to respond to Ebola, Zika, and HIV and AIDS has shown that they can effectively lead their communities to slow the spread of disease.

Thank you for your support of the most vulnerable in our world. Please continue to pray for children and families suffering from the coronavirus and the pandemic’s secondary effects, and for healthcare workers and others working tirelessly to end the global health crisis.

Our Commitment

At World Vision, stewardship is an integral part of everything we do. In rare cases where donations exceed what is needed, or where local conditions prevent program implementation, World Vision will redirect funds to similar activities to help children and families in need.

The multiplying effect from grants and donated goods may change throughout the year on identical or similar offers due to variations in the start and end dates of donor grants and our programs.
