Every day, millions of people in Africa wake up without access to something most of us take for granted\u2014clean water. Over 695 million people around the world still lack basic drinking water, and more than half of them live in sub-Saharan Africa. The consequences are devastating; nearly 4,000 lives are lost daily to diseases caused by unsafe water, poor sanitation, and hygiene \u2014 including 1,000 children under the age of five.<\/p>\n

The burden falls heaviest on girls and women, who spend over 200 million hours each day collecting water. That\u2019s time stolen from education, work, and caring for their families.<\/p>\n

But there is hope \u2014 and you can be part of it.<\/strong><\/p>\n

World Vision is the leading nongovernmental provider of clean water in the developing world.
