Every child deserves to feel safe and protected, even during humanitarian emergencies.<\/strong><\/h2>\n

A humanitarian crisis delivers the heaviest blow to the most vulnerable\u2014especially children\u2014often in the world\u2019s toughest places. World Vision has been equipping and empowering children and families in need in Afghanistan for over 20 years<\/strong> through proven programs in health, nutrition, child protection, clean water and sanitation, livelihoods, and education \u2014 and we\u2019re committed to helping families and communities rebuild.<\/p>\n

The compounding effects of drought, displacement, decades of conflict, and COVID-19 are creating a massive humanitarian crisis for children and families in Afghanistan. An estimated 20 million people\u2014nearly half of the population\u2014are facing distressing levels of acute food insecurity, and children are dying due to starvation<\/strong>. Nearly the entire population is living below the poverty line, resulting in starvation, illness, and a sense of desperation.<\/p>\n

In August 2021, World Vision declared a Category III Global Response (our highest response level) for Afghanistan and put resources in place to ensure that we could deliver assistance efficiently and effectively.<\/p>\n
