The Central African Republic (CAR) has erupted with increasing levels of violence in recent months. Political instability, poverty, and weak governance have led to turmoil that has killed thousands and caused roughly 1 million people to flee their homes. Humanitarian groups have seen the violence reach levels of horrific brutality.
World Vision is launching a response to help meet vital needs in the Central African Republic. We need your help.
There are more than 700,000 people displaced within the CAR. Another 290,000 have fled to neighboring countries. Out of 4.6 million people in the country, 2.5 million are in urgent need of assistance.
Even before fighting began in the CAR, basic humanitarian indicators showed children — just under half the population — to be facing some of the world's worst living conditions. This conflict significantly increases children's vulnerability to malnutrition, disease, loss of education, abuse, and recruitment to serve militia groups.
World Vision has not previously worked in the Central African Republic, but has now sent staff to plan and begin our work in this difficult place. We feel called to help, and believe that as a Christian organization, we can be peacemakers and a voice to help suffering children.
Please join us in protecting children and providing clean water and vital relief supplies in the Central African Republic today.
At World Vision, stewardship is an integral part of everything we do. In rare cases where donations exceed what is needed, or where local conditions prevent program implementation, World Vision will redirect funds to similar activities to help children and families in need.
The multiplying effect from grants and donated goods may change throughout the year on identical or similar offers due to variations in the start and end dates of donor grants and our programs.
