Give one share of a deep well. A deep well can provide up to 2,800 gallons of clean water a day to benefit as many as 300 people. In addition, a deep well can cut a community’s child death rate by as much as half!
Clean water lies hundreds of feet below layers of hard rock in many communities. Children have no choice but to walk long distances to find water that is often dirty and full of disease. Along with poor sanitation, this unsafe water kills 2 million children a year. But it doesn’t have to.
When World Vision drilling teams strike water, entire villages erupt in celebration. “God has now blessed us with clean water in our village,” says Massa Lamin, a volunteer pump attendant in Sierra Leone. Nobody knows the value of a deep well better than Massa. She lost four of her children to diarrhea caused by contaminated water.
Your gift of a deep well has the power to save children's lives and brighten the future for families thirsting for help. As Jesus taught His disciples in Matthew 10:42, “if anyone gives even a cup of cold water to one of these little ones … he will certainly not lose his reward.”World Vision pools donations to provide wells in as many communities as possible. Wells are not matched to individual donors. As progress updates come in, a report will be available describing how your gift is helping to provide clean water in impoverished communities.
