Provide education for 10 children. Your gift can help pay school fees or provide essentials like school uniforms, textbooks, backpacks, and school supplies — helping ensure that ten children in poverty can receive what he or she needs to get an education.
Tragically, 75 million primary-school-age children are not in school. One reason? Without the money for basic education supplies like pencils and paper, children from developing countries are often turned away from school because they can’t fully participate.
In Ethiopia, Shelma missed a whole year of school because his parents didn’t have enough money to buy his school materials. “I could not go to school,” he recalls. “I was so sad I was crying.” Shelma wasn’t alone, as fewer than half the children in Ethiopia receive an education.
Thankfully, World Vision provided the books and other class materials Shelma needed. Today he’s back in school and pursuing his dream of becoming a teacher. “I feel much stronger now,” says Shelma. “I [have] hope for my future.”
