Nearly 5 million children and adults in Mali are at risk from escalating conflict in the country, in addition to a food crisis and inadequate nutrition. More than 400,000 people have already been forced to flee their homes, according to the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and the number is increasing rapidly. Your help is needed today to respond to the crisis in Mali.

To assist the most vulnerable in this conflict, World Vision is establishing emergency food distribution sites in communities where displaced people have settled. This lessens the burden for families already hit hard by last year's food crisis.

Another major concern is reports of armed groups recruiting child soldiers. The United Nations states that children as young as 10 have been seen manning checkpoints. World Vision has sent teams to key areas to advise families and communities about how to keep children safe.

As the crisis in Mali continues, World Vision is prepared to expand our efforts to target a larger number of displaced people, providing them with food, hygiene kits, and cooking supplies, as well as psychological support for affected children. Please help us continue the relief work in Mali, and pray for the children and families affected by this crisis.

At World Vision, stewardship is an integral part of everything we do. In rare cases where donations exceed what is needed, or where local conditions prevent program implementation, World Vision will redirect funds to similar activities to help children and families in need.

The multiplying effect from grants and donated goods may change throughout the year on identical or similar offers due to variations in the start and end dates of donor grants and our programs.
