Hurricane season has devastated Haiti, a country that was already suffering from a severe food crisis. The back-to-back storms of Hanna, Gustav, Fay, and Ike have left 800,000 people – nearly half of them children – in desperate need of emergency food and other vital help.
World Vision is scaling up our relief efforts to provide urgently-needed food, hygiene kits, clothing, and shelter materials to displaced families. With continuing rains and access to many of the hard-hit regions cut off by washed out roads, people are growing increasingly desperate. World Vision’s relief staff is on the ground, and committed to working alongside other humanitarian groups in the region to assure that emergency supplies reach those with the greatest need as quickly as possible.
World Vision has been working in Haiti for more than 30 years and is the largest organization providing food throughout the country. Your gift today will provide desperately needed food and other assistance to hungry children and families. You’ll also help us to continue our work in Haiti long after this relief period, as we help families rebuild their homes and re-establish their farm lands.
And thanks to matching government grant funds, your gift will multiply to help save even more lives. You'll help provide hurricane relief and food security to many who are quickly running out of time.
Thank you for responding quickly to the urgent needs of those affected by crisis in Haiti.
At World Vision, stewardship is an integral part of everything we do. In rare cases where donations exceed what is needed, or where local conditions prevent program implementation, World Vision will redirect funds to similar activities to help children and families in need.
The multiplying effect from grants and donated goods may change throughout the year on identical or similar offers due to variations in the start and end dates of donor grants and our programs.
