In Niger, Mariama used to spend more than two hours every day fetching unsafe water located a mile from her home. The 10-year-old remembers the day when World Vision drilled a new clean water well. “Before we had to go far to get water, but now [the water well] is very close to the village.”
Clean water has improved the villagers’ health and saved many hours a day. Now adults have more time to work and children have more energy to spend on school. World Vision also built latrines in Mariama’s village, improving hygiene and sanitation.
